Friends of the Library

The Mary Kintz Bevevino Library, designed by the firm of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson of Wilkes-Barre, was dedicated on September 24, 1999. The building is named in honor of late alumna, Mary Kintz Bevevino'87. The 37,500 square-foot library houses Misericordia's collection of books, videos, journals, and other resources. Computing workstations, quiet study spaces, and group rooms are available for student, staff, and faculty use. The Alden Lab on the first floor provides a state-of-the-art teaching classroom. The Catherine Evans McGowan Conference Center on the third floor serves as a community gathering room for presentations and meetings. The Sister Mary Carmel McGarigle Archives, housed on the third floor, collects and preserves materials deemed essential to the history of Misericordia, especially regarding the role of the Sisters of Mercy.

The Friends of the Mary Kintz Bevevino Library was established in 2004 to support programs and sponsor events that enhance student and community learning. The Friends of the Library's Speaker Series provides a venue for faculty to present and discuss their latest research to colleagues and members of the community. Fundraising efforts support the mission of the Bevevino Library to provide quality resources and improve access to library services and resources. The annual fundraising dinner brings nationally recognized scholars to Misericordia. Proceeds from this dinner are used to add materials to the library's collection.

Members of the Friends group receive advanced notice of library programs and events, as well as borrowing privileges to the library's collection.
