Alumni Borrowing Policy
Borrowing privileges for the library’s general collection are extended to all Misericordia University alumni. Although off-campus access to MU databases is available only to Misericordia students, faculty and staff, alumni may access articles in the research computer lab on the second floor, adjacent to the reference desk. A staff member will be happy to offer assistance. Library owned laptops and iPads are not available for community use; however, an Ethernet cord may be borrowed at the circulation desk if a patron desires to use her/his personal laptop in the library. Alumni are welcome to borrow from the McNaughton DVD and fiction collections on the library’s first floor. Alumni are encouraged to support their library by becoming a Friend of the Library.

Children in the Bevevino Library
The Mary Kintz Bevevino Library is designed to serve the Misericordia University community, primarily students, faculty and staff. Children should be accompanied at all times by a parent or an adult for their own safety. Parents are responsible for children's use of the library, including, but not limited to, the children's literature collection and the Internet.

Cell Phone Policy
The Library understands the need for using devices such as cell phones and pagers. We ask that such devices are set to the “silent mode” while in the library. Further, when using these devices, patrons should go to the uncarpeted areas of the building (i.e. the breezeway, stairwells or bathrooms).  We appreciate your cooperation in respecting the quiet that some patrons need to work and study.

Citizenship
The library is for the enjoyment of all who wish to use its resources and services. Certain services are restricted to members of the Misericordia University community.

Community Members Borrowing Policy
Local community members are welcome to visit the library and use our on-site resources. Community members may access the internet in the research computer lab on the second floor, adjacent to the reference desk. A staff member will be happy to offer assistance. Printing, Fax service and copy machines are available for a nominal charge. Library-owned laptops and iPads are not available for community use; however, an Ethernet cord may be borrowed at the circulation desk if a patron desires to use her/his personal laptop to connect to the internet in the library.
Community members are invited to support the library by making a modest donation to obtain a Friends of the Library membership. This yearly membership affords patrons the opportunity to borrow materials from the library’s general collection, including the McNaughton DVD and fiction collections on the library’s first floor. In addition, invitations to Friends’ sponsored presentations and lectures are periodically sent throughout the year.

Public Printing Policy
As a library courtesy, patrons without a MU ID number are allowed to print.  There is a $.10 per side charge.  Color copies may be printed in the multimedia room at a charge of $.25 per side.  The library reserves the right to limit the printing of color intensive images.  Printing of multiple handouts or flyers on the color printer is discouraged due to the amount of toner needed.

Reciprocal Borrowers
Students from Kings College, Luzerne County Community College, Marywood University, Penn State University (Wilkes-Barre Campus only), The University of Scranton and Wilkes University may apply for borrowing privileges. After presenting a valid student identification card and completing a borrower's application, a library card will be issued.

Study Room Reservation

The library has nine study rooms, which can be reserved by students, faculty, and staff for group study or meetings. Reservations can be made at the Reference Desk either in person, by phone at 570-674-6352, or online at http://misericordia.libcal.com/booking/rooms. The time limit for reservations is four hours per room. Please be aware of any reservations following your own.

Dry erase markers can be checked out at the Reference Desk. There is a limit of one pack of markers per room. Rooms should be left in good condition after use. This includes, but is not limited to, erasing the boards and throwing away trash.

U. S. Copyright Law 
The library adheres to U. S. Copyright laws.

Use of Library Materials 
Patrons must present a valid college identification card or a library card to check out materials; otherwise a fee may be charged. Please do not loan your identification card or library card to another patron or borrow materials for another person.

The person to whom the material is checked out is responsible for any fees associated with overdue, lost or damaged materials.

A patron is guilty of library theft if he willingly conceals on his person or among his belongings any library material, including periodicals, and willfully or without authority removes the material from the library with the intention of converting it for his own use. A copy of the sections of Pennsylvania law dealing with library theft and retention of library property after notice to return is publically displayed on the first floor of the library. (Secton 3929.1 Pennsylvania Crimes Code.) As required by law, Section 3929.1 Pennsylvania Crimes Code is posted in the library.
