    What is e-MU?

    e-MU is Misericordia University's web portal that provides access to online communication and tools.  All students, faculty, and staff have access to campus announcements,  course information, class schedules, grades, communities, campus life, calendars, email and much more.  You can access e-MU from anywhere at anytime.

     

    How do I login to e-MU?

    Type in your browser: http://emu.misericordia.edu and login using your e-MU userid.

     

    What is my username and password?

    e-MU has assigned your username and password.  Your username is based on your last name and first initial.  Your initial password is the the first initial of your first name, the first initial of your last name followed by the last four digits of your social security number. You will be prompted to change your password. There is new criteria for your new password. The password length must be 8 or greater and less than 20. The password must contain a letterand a digit.

    What is the Misericordia University privacy and usage policy as it relates to e-MU?

    Please refer to the Misericoridia University Computer Usage Policy.  e-MU privacy and usage guidelines fall under this policy.

     

    Is my access to e-MU secure?

    Your personal information on e-MU is protected through your userid.  Only by logging on with userid and password can your information be accessed.  It is very important that you do not share your userid with anyone.  Please remember to logout each time you access e-MU.

     

    How can I change my password?

    You can change your password by clicking on the 'My Menu', Control Panel, Reset passord.  Not functioning at this time.  

     

    What is Blackboard?

    Blackboard is the course management system at Misericordia University. Blackboard allows faculty and students to share content and communicate online. WebCT Blackboard provides discussion and chat areas, online whiteboard, online quizzes, Web links, and other multimedia resources for a course all in one central location.

     

    I cannot get to my Blackboard course from the 'My Courses' page?

    When you click on the course name you should be automatically taken to the Blackboard course homepage.  If you do not, you can call the Student Help Desk at 674-8087.

     

    Where do I get my grades?

    You can get your grades by clicking on the OASIS Icon in the LaunchPad area of e-MU.  Click on specific link you are looking for, such as, profile, grades, class schedules, billing information, etc. 

     

    Where do I get my schedule?

    You can get your schedule by clicking on the OASIS icon in the LaunchPad area of e-MU.  Click on Class Schedule.

    When is e-MU available?

    e-MU is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Some areas rely on data from systems that are down for backup or maintenace during the late evening.  They will be up and running by the morning unless otherwise stated in a Targeted Announcement.

     

    Who can I contact with e-MU?

    e-MU's Help Desk can be reached by calling 570-674-8087.

     

    How can I get training on e-MU?

    Periodically we run training sessions for  both e-MU and Blackboard.  Sessions will be announced on e-MU. top

     

    Can alumni use e-MU?

    No. However, former students may have access e-MU for a short period of time.  We suggest you begin to use another email client as soon as possible.  You can also become a member of CougarConnect, the univeristy's alumni website.  CouarConnect is using google to create an email client that you can use and is assoicated with the University.

     

    Do Staff, and students all see the same view of e-MU?

    No. Faculty and staff see a different view of e-MU than students see. The content that an individual sees is determined by their role at the university. Roles are student, staff and  faculty. Individuals are presented with a different set of tabs and channels depending on their role.

     

    How do I request a Community?

    Faculty/Staff: Complete the 'Requrest a Group Form. This is not yet available. Your request will be sent to the e-MU Community Administrator for approval. As soon as your request has been reviewed, you will receive an email notification.

    Students: If a student organization would like to create a Community, the organization  must be approved with the Student Services Office. Once approved by the  advisor, you can electronically request the group. The community leader can then delegate group administration to any group member.

     

    How do I join a Community?

    You can join a Community by accessing the Community area.  Click on the Communities Icon in the LaunchPad area of e-MU.  Click on Available Communities.  Here you will see a list of Communities that you may join.  There a Public and Restricted Communities.  You can join a Public Community but your must request membership for a Restricted Community.  The Community owner will contact you if your request is approved.

     

    Do I have a calendar in e-MU?

    e-MU users have access to a calendar.  You can also 'sync' your outlook calendar with this calendar.

    Can I combine my portal calendars?

    You can share calendars if you are using Outlook.,

     

    How can I send a Targeted Announcement (staff and faculty only)?

    Within e-MU there is the capability of sending messages to  the entire campus or a select group of people. The messages can appear in the portal's Personal Announcements or Campus Announcement area on the Home page and/or as an e-mail to your Misericordia University email account. To submit an item, please use the Targeted Announcement Form found on the Employee Tab.

     

    How can I reserve a room for a meeting (staff and faculty only)?

    Faculty and Staff can click on Web Event to access calendars and reserve rooms throughout the campus.   Note: These calendars do not interface with  e-MU calendars.  

     

    Where can I find students activities for the week?

    You can find the students events on the Campus Life/Student Life Tab of e-MU. Not only can you view events but you can also find the links to the Highlander, Campus Radio. find a ride, and much more.

     

    Where can I find Cable channels for TV?

    You can find Cable channels on the Restech website. The site provides students help with computer problems, questions, and concerns. This site includes information on current events about computers relating to students, ways to protect your computer, assist with questions about other computer-related topics, and help with questions concerning. residential Internet connections, campus phone lines, and cable TV.

    Is there any software applications that we can download to our PCs, such as browsers, or virus programs?

    Students may access their download page on the Student Services Tab/Technology Links.  Faculty and Staff may access their download page on the Employee Tab/Important Links.
